The HIP6006 provides complete control and protection for aDC-DC converter optimized for high-performancemicroprocessor applications. It is designed to drive twoN Channel MOSFETs in a synchronous-rectified bucktopology.
The HIP6006 integrates all of the control, outputadjustment, monitoring and protection functions into a singlepackage.The output voltage of the converter can be preciselyregulated to as low as 1.27V, with a maximum tolerance of±1% over temperature and line voltage variations.
The HIP6006 provides simple, single feedback loop, voltagemodecontrol with fast transient response. It includes a200kHz free-running triangle-wave oscillator that isadjustable from below 50kHz to over 1MHz.
The erroramplifier features a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and6V/μs slew rate which enables high converter bandwidth forfast transient performance. The resulting PWM duty ratioranges from 0% to 100%.The HIP6006 protects against over-current conditions byinhibiting PWM operation.
The HIP6006 monitors the currentby using the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET which eliminatesthe need for a current sensing resistor.
