The ’AHC541 octal buffers/drivers are ideal fordriving bus lines or buffer memory addressregisters. These devices feature inputs andoutputs on opposite sides of the package tofacilitate printed circuit board layout.

The 3-state control gate is a two-input AND gatewith active-low inputs so that if eitheroutput-enable (OE1 or OE2) input is high, allcorresponding outputs are in the high-impedancestate.

The outputs provide noninverted data whenthey are not in the high-impedance state.To ensure the high-impedance state during powerup or power down, OE should be tied to VCCthrough a pullup resistor; the minimum value ofthe resistor is determined by the current-sinkingcapability of the driver.
